Lord’s Day

Reading (Matthew 5:23-24) “So if you are offering your gift at the alter and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled with your brother and then come and offer your gift.”

V. Before we approach the Lord with our praise and thanksgiving, let us call to mind any way we have offended Him in the past week. [silence]
R. I confess, to Almighty God, and to you my brothers (and sisters), that I have sinned through my own fault, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and what I have failed to do.  And I ask blessed Mary ever virgin, all the angels and saints, and to you my brothers (and sisters), to pray for me to the Lord, our God.
V. Let us exchange a sign of peace and forgiveness toward one another. [Share a Sign of Peace]

Praise and Thanksgiving Lighting of the Candle
V. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. R. This Word, the dawn from on high, has broken upon us, born of the Virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit. V. In Him was life, and the life is the light of men.
 R. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness will not overcome it.
  V. Heavenly Father, as we bow down in worship before your glorious Son, we kindle this flame before us so that our hearts may become inflamed with love for you. On this holy day, we set aside the daily routine and contemplate the wonders of Your love. Today you raised your Son, our brother, from the dead!  Through His holy cross we have been saved from the shackles of sin and death, and in return we give ourselves to you through our Mother Mary.  We renew our desire to be completely in communion with the Trinity and Mary. It is our deepest yearning that we be one with You for all eternity. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, help us to see more clearly, listen more fully, and respond with great submission to Your Will.  Merciful Father, lead us on the path of peace and joy, enveloped in the splendor of your divine love. Deliver us from all evil, that we may be true lights in this world, resting in Your warm embrace, ever singing the praises of your name.
  R. For in You is the fountain of life; in Your light there is no darkness. [Light the Candle]
  V. Blessed are You, Lord our God, who created light on the first day and gave to us Your Son, the Light of the World.  Having died on the cross and rising again, Jesus is forever the source of all life and salvation.  We praise and bless You, Lord our God, for this life You have given to us through Mary.  May we always seek to imitate her Fiat, her Yes, so that by her example we may be always led to the heart of Jesus.
  R. Amen.

Reading of the Word [Readings and Gospel]

V. Brothers, this is the Lord’s Day
  R. Let us come together under Mary’s enveloping mantle of prayer into the joy and peace of God’s Love.
  V. Today we prepare ourselves and our hearts for the resurrection of our Lord and thank Him for the countless blessings that He has given us.
R. Jesus Christ is with us to walk by our sides, strengthening us and giving us rest.
V. Let us open our hearts to receive Him and bow down in adoration.
R. And give honor to our Mother, the Queen of Heaven and Earth.
V. May the Holy Spirit deepen in our hearts a devotion to her, and through her, devotion to the Son.
R. May her loving hand be always at our backs and her motherly guidance lead us deeper into the love of Jesus.
V. Let us praise God with this new-found joy, and thank Him for the many blessings of the past week; for our struggles and joys, and for our lives together in the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.  Let us praise God for the blessing of His Son freely given. From the fullness of His love, we have received life without end.  Lord, our God, You have brought us unto the rest of Christ.
R. Now, through Mary, by the Power of the Holy Spirit, we live with Him and look forward to the day when we will dwell with Him in Your heavenly Kingdom. Amen.

Prayer of Submission
  R. O Lord, Frustrate our expectations, thwart our plans, wither all of our desires into nothingness, that we may become as little children, and sing and dance in the love of God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen

Blessing of the Wine   [Raise the Cup of Wine]
  V. Blessed are you, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who has created the fruit of the vine.
  R. Amen.

Blessing of the Bread   [Raise the Bread]
  V. Blessed are you, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who brings forth bread from the earth.
R. Amen.

  The Our Father:
Our Father, Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

O clemens, O pia, O dulcis Virgo Maria.  Amen.
